Since breaking a long-standing Elvis Presley chart record on the last one, Boyz II Men opted on playing it safe for the first single of their second album, II. They hooked back up with "End of The Road" co-writer Babyface and stuck to their guns as the respectable Prince Charmings of R&B (Unfortunately moves like this would only pigeonhole them for the rest of their career as a ballad-oriented act).
Like "Road", "I'll Make Love To You" was another soul-bearing ad-lib fest with an epic hook. A four minute long promise to rock some girl's world, the track's never-ending lyrical foreplay is filled with numerous warnings that she should prepare herself for the greatest sex session of her life ("Girl are you ready/ It's gonna be a long night"; "I will give you the love of your life"). "I'll Make Love To You" may emphasize the beauty of taking things slow, but it takes forever before clothes are even shed, and even then, the boys still haven't done anything because they're too busy trying to blow her away with their throat-busting chops. Most women are probably aware that if a dude must talk this much game before any act is done, then things are bound to reach a conclusion very quickly.
